Belgian Chocolate Drink Recipes

One of the best ways to incorporate delicious chocolate from Belgium into your diet is through chocolate drinks, such as smoothies (on hot, summer days) and hot chocolate (when it’s overcast and you’re a bit on the colder side.) No matter what mood or climate you find yourself in, indulging in a sweet Belgian chocolate drink can put a smile on your face.

Banana Choco-Smoothie
A simple, delicious smoothie great for breakfast or desert, the chocolate banana smoothie takes only five minutes to make and is sure to impress your guests. To start, you’ll need 6 ounces of semi-sweet Belgian chocolate, a ripe banana, a cup of low fat milk and a cup of ice. Combine in a blender until smooth – if you want to add more flavor, consider adding frozen fruit such as strawberries.

Triple Hot Chocolate
For the days when it’s a bit colder, you can make triple hot chocolate, which is sure to help warm you up. To start, combine a half cup of semi-sweet Belgian chocolate along with a half-cup of low fat milk and microwave until its smooth (for about 30 seconds.) Then, mix in a quarter tea spoon of cinnamon, a dash of brown sugar and another half cup of low fat (cold) milk – top with whipped cream and pieces of chocolate to taste.

Choco-Berry Milk Shake
For those hot summer days, there’s nothing quite like a berry milk shake to bring out the great flavor of the season. You can even use sugar free chocolate and sweetener substitute to lower the calories. To start, combine a cup of milk in a blender, with a half cup of frozen strawberries, 1/4 cup of blueberries and a half of a banana. Then add a teaspoon of brown sugar, half a teaspoon of vanilla and two tablespoons of powered Belgian chocolate for a great summer treat.
